Genesis 10

This chapter was about the clans of Noah and the genealogy. At first I didn't know why it was  important to read all those difficult names of sons upon sons upon sons... but after reading up the annotations in my study Bible I realized that it shows how humanity divided into different groups of people... which would lead to the rise of all the different cultures in the world today. The diversity in people stemmed from the spread of Noah's sons to different areas of the world and their sons following suit.

Genesis 9

Genesis 9:3
Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

Everything that we ever need is in front of us, all of it a gift from our Lord. The question is whether we are using these gifts and resources appropriately. Are we using it for His glory? Are the things we do edifying?
God gave us the ultimate gift of Jesus. I know that even now as I struggle with doing devos everyday I do not appreciate his sacrifice as how I should be. However I'm thankful that God uses different ways to help me realize my sin and my need for Jesus' saving grace.

In verse 4  it says "that we shall not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it". I was a bit confused at what this verse meant so I searched up the meaning in my study Bible. The verse means that we should not consume/drink blood because through blood is life that God gives us.

Genesis 9:13
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

It's so beautiful to see a rainbow after a summer rain, but it's even more beautiful to know that the rainbow represents how much God loves us. Despite all the wickedness in humanity He chooses to make a lasting promise to not wipe us out... but instead allows us to learn of His goodness and follow Him.
