John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
This verse is such a great personal reminder that the words I read from Scripture and from the Bible is sacred and holy. These words are from God, written down by His people. The Bible speaks truth and is a guide that we can follow and use in our daily walk. It encourages and teaches us.
John 1:16-17
From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
When God sent His precious son to dwell among us, His grace was given to us when we believed in Him. Grace, as in getting something we don't deserve, is so evident every day in every moment. Having breath when we wake up in the morning, an education, an abundance of food to eat, or even provision of clothes and shelter are all blessings... definitely things we don't deserve as we constantly fall into sin. We are also released from the bondage to the laws and rituals from the Old Testament. Believing that Christ is our Saviour and Redeemer already grants us salvation in the Lord's name. Following that declaration in our hearts is the spiritual walk as a Christ follower and disciple of Jesus.
The reminder: Are you able to follow Jesus as his disciple willingly without hesitation or anything holding you back? Can you deny yourself and pick up your cross daily for God?

Isaiah 66:5-24
God knows each move we are about to make. He will follow through with His good plans for us. God guides our every step to carry out His will and purpose He has in us.
Isaiah 66:13
As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."
God gives us peace and rest like a constantly flowing, tranquil river. His comfort is never-ending... definitely something I should rejoice in! In both good times and bad times God is there to spur me on in the most subtle ways.
The reminder: Find comfort in the Lord for all things.

Isaiah 65:1- 66:4
Isaiah 65:24
Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.
God already knows what is in our hearts, even before we approach Him in humility and prayer. That is how good our God is, knowing what we want and doing something about it. Prayer is also a symbol of respect and reverence to the Lord, knowing that He is aware yet we still come to Him weak and broken in need of His providence.
God lifts up those who are humble, poor in spirit (realizing that we aren't enough but God satisfies us), and is fearful of the Lord (knowing that He is the one sovereign King, creator of all things).
The reminder: God knows what we need and we need to have faith that He will provide because He is a great God.

Isaiah 63:11- 64:12
Isaiah 64:5
You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved?
Sin has zero benefit to us. Sin may seem to give us comfort, ease, or simplicity but those are gained in the wrong way. It's disappointing to know that with our human nature we'll always fall into this paradigm... but now we have a shift where Jesus can give us all that plus more. Jesus can save us from our consumption of sin. Our acknowledgement and proclamation of Jesus as our Saviour needs to be reflected through every moment.
Isaiah 64:8
Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter, we are all the work of your hands.
You made each of us to be unique and special. We are the work of Your hands. May we find joy in our quirks, personality, and physicality knowing that you designed our very being yourself.

Isaiah 62:11- 63:10
Isaiah 63:7
I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us-- yes, the many good things he has done for the house of Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses.
Musical worship is one of the ways I express my adoration to the Lord. There are so many things He has done for me, all of which deserves my gratitude, respect, and praise. It's important to find your own personal way of expressing your love to God. For some it is through prayer. Others it's by serving or preaching.
Jesus is distressed when we are distressed. He provides what's necessary to carry us through our walk so that we learn to depend and rely on God. God truly is the only one who can satisfy us.
The reminder: How are you showing others that God is sovereign over your life? How is God's kindness and compassion reflected to others in your life?

Isaiah 59:12- 62:10
Sin causes us to do both small and big things that are unjust in the Lord's eyes. A simple lie or a murder are the same level in the Lord's eyes. Just like when we accepted Jesus as our Saviour, we need to confess that we are weak and broken, and with the Lord's forgiveness and grace we are wiped clean and our records are cleared.
Reading these several chapters brings me joy to know that if I have the same spiritual discipline and reverence for the Lord, then God will also endow me with peace and an overflow of love and grace.
Isaiah 60:20
Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.
No longer do I have to worry about the darkness that may misguide me because I have the light of the Spirit guiding me every step of the way.
Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,
We have nothing to fear with the Spirit in us. The wisdom and knowledge will come and the words will flow, as long as we have the right intention of love to share the Good News to the unreached and oppressed. Everywhere we go is a mission field where the work of the Lord can be done.
Isaiah 61:10-11
I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the soil makes the sprout come on and a garden causes seeds to grow so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.
The fact that I have been saved and purchased by Christ's blood as He was put on the cross is a driving factor for me to continue living out a God-glorifying life. God didn't have to adopt me into His family as His daughter yet He did choose me to be one of them. Otherwise, I would have been on my way to hell with the other sinners and forever live in eternal pain and condemnation. It's scary to think about how it's like but by His grace and mercy I can look towards a bigger prize than anything on this earth: eternal life in heaven with God. As we continue to place God and seek Him first, He will plant seeds in us that will grow to become the fruit of good labour in the Lord. Righteousness and praise will also be a result of the transformative nature of God on us.
The reminder: Be humble as you receive blessings, for it is by His grace that we can continue living today as Christ followers. Rejoice in the Lord in every moment as His work upon us should be evident.

Isaiah 58:4- 59:11
Isaiah 58:6-9
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter-- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
Fasting in one sense can mean giving up something that you value for a cause or purpose. Spiritual fasting is giving up anything in order for us to develop a deeper relationship with the Lord. This definition matches up with the above verses, more so in the sense that we need to give up our easy, materialistic, sinful life in order to develop a deeper relationship with the Lord. Practical examples are given: bringing awareness to social justice issues, feed the hungry and provide shelter to the homeless.... to not turn away from people are trapped in hopelessness! When you're able to keep all that in mind then God's light in you will shine brightly. People will know that you are good because God is good to you. Knowing that God will come to your rescue in your difficult times, use this knowledge to encourage those currently in a bad state.
Isaiah 58:11
The Lord will guide you always, he will satisfy your needs in sun scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
God will be right by your side when you be His hands and feet. As Jesus' disciple He will nurture you and care for you so that you can mature to be a Godly man and woman boldly proclaiming the Gospel through speech and action. The Spirit will never fail you. It is our foundation and rock while we're living.
Isaiah 58:13-14
"If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord's holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob." The mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Sabbath Sunday was made so that we can drop all the things that may control us during the week (e.g. school, job) and allow that day to be dedicated purely to God. It's hard when we live in such a fast-paced society and things need to be done 24/7 but remember that God made us so that we can worship and glorify Him... also to find rest and learn from Him. If we're always thinking about studying/working then it consumes us and our time meant for the Lord will be taken away by things that don't deserve our full focus. Only the Lord deserves that.
Sin is what separated us from God. Each day it is so likely for us to fall into Satan's traps and stumble into sin against the Good God. It's impossible to achieve righteousness but we need to always strive to achieve it.
The reminder: Complete the Sabbath for the Lord, not for yourself.

Isaiah 57:14- 58:3
Isaiah 57:15
For this is what the high and lofty One says-- he who lives forever, whose name is holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.
God is with us in good and bad times. He restores and invigorates us when we're down. He heals and blesses us when we're sick. He picks us up and guides when we stumble. He is a holy and loving God that we need to not only approach in our bad times but also acknowledge His presence in our good times.
Isaiah 57:18
I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him,
I once tried to do the 30 Hour Famine run by World Vision... but never succeeded. I let the hunger take control and couldn't help breaking the fast and stuffing myself with food. The last several verses in this chunk of passage makes me reflect on what true fasting means and is to me. For me personally, fasting for the Lord is when we stop doing or give up something for a period of time and during this time you show your dependence on the Lord. You strip yourself from temptations and distractions so that you can refocus back on the Lord, in addition you acknowledge His providence in your life with the necessities that you already have.
The reminder: if any temptations overcome your time and commitment to the Lord, consider fasting it to bring your eyes and heart back to God. Acknowledge Him in good times as well as those times happen by the grace and love of our God.

Isaiah 56:3- 57:13
Since we are born with a sinful nature, it is so easy for us to stumble and fall into sin. It still amazes me to think about how God wipes our slate clean each day, free from any penalties or guilt from our sin. I do feel guilty when I realize that I have sinned but I am reassured in the Word, especially in this passage that as long as we strive to serve Him and love the name of the Lord, then He will continue to bless us despite our shortcomings. He knows that we are not perfect but if we have the attitude of constantly trying to be righteous in His eyes then any past sin is forgotten. Acknowledge our shortfalls, repent, and ask for forgiveness... the Lord will do just that.
Isaiah 57:1
The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart; devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil.
When we are associated with people who tend to lead us in the wrong direction, God finds His ways to take us away from their bad influence. Hearing true stories of how God has done that is amazing.
The reminder: Friends may come and go, but now you know that God may have a reason for it. Reflect on your friendships and relationships of others and see if they've been building you up or tearing you down. Stay away from those who negatively influence and surround yourself with people who love and support you in the Lord.

Isaiah 55:6- 56:2
Isaiah 55:10-11
As the rain and the snow comes down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so it is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
The Lord gives His wisdom and knowledge when we seek Him for it, and by His grace this knowledge is what guides us in our walk each day to becoming a better person in the name of the Lord. We succeed and achieve things through Him, all for His glory. The work and fruit produced is not of our own but His.
The reminder: Use the knowledge and wisdom that God has blessed you with to produce good fruit for Him.

Isaiah 54:9- 55:5
Isaiah 54:9-10
"To me this is like the days of Noah when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again. Thought the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Can you imagine how angry and frustrated God gets when He sees His children constantly falling into sin? Sometimes they may not even recognize it (and I admit, I'm struggling with that). Yet these two verses paints a clear picture of how our God loves us so much that He wouldn't get rid of us out of rebuke. His unfailing love is always present and it's something that I need to appreciate more on a daily basis.
Isaiah 55:2
Why spend money on what is not bread and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.
Watch where your effort and hard work are placed. Are they towards earthly desires such as career, academics, or relationships? It's important to remember that it should not be this, rather our effort and hard work should be directed towards the Lord for His glory. Allow Him to use your work and effort to temporarily bless you with earthly rewards but don't let it be the main drive for that work and effort. All good things come from the Lord but you need to have faith in that. The ultimate gift is eternal life with our Lord, nothing will be as delightful or rich as that. So, continue to feast on the Word and invest in quiet times where the Lord can transform you and bless you.
The reminder: Invest all that I am and have into the Lord for He will use it to advance His kingdom. The outcome results in earthly rewards that may be what you want.

Isaiah 53:4- 54:8
Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
The Gospel: We are sinners. God sent His perfect son to Earth to teach us, save us, forgive us. Jesus died on the cross by taking the punishment that was for us. He died from the wrath of God for our inquities. He rose again by the grace of God. We are now bought by the blood of Christ. Our slate is wiped clean each day.We are Christ followers dedicated to living a life that glorifies the Lord and sharing the Good News so that others can experience God's love as well.
Isaiah 53:7
He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
Jesus willingly gave up His life to the will of God. It was painful yet He was obedient to the very end... and because of that we are breathing and living now. Our walk now is not as painful as being put on the cross and punished from our Father. We need to have an obedient heart to our God as Jesus already paid the price for us doing the opposite.
Isaiah 54:8
In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you," says the Lord your Redeemer
A description of how God feels when you commit our sins each time. Angry but overall everlasting kindness and compassion. That is love.
The reminder: Be aware of how compassionate and kind our God is despite our sin.

Isaiah 52:11- 53:3
There is no need to fear each step that we take because God is always before you, like a guard He will protect you every step of the way.
This servant song of Isaiah is said to reflect his foreshadow of Jesus' glory. Truly Jesus the son of God was not born like a king, but rather as a lowly servant in a manger. Many people despised Him and did not believe yet He continued to walk across the nations to share about the glory of God and the love for His people. He died a painful death on the cross that we should have been on. We were pardoned by His sacrifice. We are now redeemed and bought with the blood of Christ. That is the Gospel that should be resonating in our hearts.
The reminder: Remember Jesus and His sacrifice for you. Exemplify the same qualities that Jesus had.

Isaiah 51:17- 52:10
Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
With the Spirit in you, you are an ambassador of Christ, called to proclaim the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Through this calling you are to continuing being peacemakers and friends to others. This is what Jesus did. This is what you shall do as well.
The reminder: Do you proclaim the Good News wherever you go? Do you keep it as a mission at the forefront of your mind? Are your actions a reflection of the Gospel in you? If they are then they should be deeds that bring peace and good tidings. You should stand strong for your faith.

Isaiah 49:24- 51:16
Do I stand strong in the Gospel, even when I am persecuted? Would I be able to continue doing God's mission for me even when others mock and spit at me? As a true disciple who is grounded in Christ, persecution would not hold you down because you know that God is with you.
It's so easy to faill into the wrong mindset that your successes and achievements are obtained from your own hard work. However, it's so important to remember that your effort and focus into achieving different things is granted from the Lord. The rest, knowledge, patience, and attitude are all blessings from the Lord. Thus all glory and success goes to the Lord as He is the one who permits us to achieve such things.
Isaiah 51:7-8
"Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts; Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever, my salvation through all generations."
Don't let things of the world hinder or intimidate you from sharing the Gospel to those who haven't heard. The people or things who try to stop you from doing so will be taken out by the Lord. Knowing that only those who believe the Gospel in their hearts will gain eternal salvation should be a motivating factor to share with as many people as possible. Those who don't have the Gospel in their hearts will disappear after their lifetime.
The reminder: Stand strong in the face of persecution. Be grounded in the Gospel and be satisfied with that. Nothing else matters.

Isaiah 48:17- 49:23
Isaiah 48:17
This is what the Lord says-- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
Allow God to move in you and admonish you with the wisdom, joy, peace, knowledge, rest.... all that you desire. Receive it with an open heart and know that He will use the things He has blessed you with to teach you and mature you. He sets the straight path for us and it's up to us and our will to follow Him on this path that leads to good things.
Isaiah 49:2
He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.
When God is sending us out into the world, one of many distractions and temptations, He'll always prepare us for it... spiritually, mentally, physically. For me, I find peace in this especially in terms of evangelism or even simply talking about my faith to others. I get so nervous and scared that I won't have the biblical knowledge to properly address the Gospel to them... but God is faithful and provides. He will freely give an outpouring of the Spirit to guide and help us to reach out.
Isaiah 49:13
Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.
God strengthens us and builds us up through the tough and afflicting times but He still shows compassion for us enduring the pain and suffering. Like a father He will care and nurture us so that we can get through those times in one piece.
The reminder: Receive the Lord's blessings as you continue to live in His mission.

Isaiah 46:5- 48:16
Isaiah 46:7
They lift it to their shoulders and carry it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move. Though one cries out to it, it does not answer; it cannot save him from his troubles.
Idols consume us. They make it seem like they bring good over God. It's weird thinking about how they can warp our minds to think that. When you look back, how have these material idols saved you? How have they given you rest and peace and satisfaction? Only God can truly fulfill our needs. No matter how good these idols may seem, one day they will backfire on you. Let God be the only idol in your life, nothing else.
The theme of God being the creator, the one true, living God, the Holy Lord resonates throughout this chunk of scripture. How have I acknowledged that in my daily walk with God? The thought doesn't cross my mind often but it is something that we need to be grounded in. Knowing that He is our one God will help put the reins on our pride and the temptation of idols.
Isaiah 48:10
See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction,
Those times when you seem to be constantly surrounded by darkness is daunting, painful, stressful, afflicting... but God uses those challenges and obstacles to mold us. Each impact and punch that we receive during the hard times is used to shape us into the godly men and women that He set us out to be. He's refining us through these learning experiences.
God has a mission for each of us. He will send us out and with His guiding hand He will make the mission we're on a victory. God never said that the mission He called us to is easy, but we can be assured that He will lead us so that it will be a victory for Him.
The reminder: God refines us through times of affliction. It's also a part of the grand mission that God has set for each of us.

Isaiah 45:22- 46:4
Idols can easily capture you into their spellbounding idea that they will make all things better without need of God. Sleep can give you rest. Academics can give you a bright future. A relationship can give you all the love you need. All of these things do not last... but the Lord alone can give you all the rest, a hope and a future, and the love of the best Father you can ever have. Whatever the Lord gives is eternal. The Lord's blessings are there in your darkest times and there in times worth rejoicing in. Find that joy in the Lord and not the things of this world.
Isaiah 46:4
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
He is with us until we reach our ripe old age. He gives us life and breath each day to wake up and continue serving Him in this life. He has a blueprint of our being and knows us inside out. No one knows us better than the Lord our Creator. He is the author and finisher of our faith, the one who completes us. He rescues us from the toughest sin and challenges that we'll ever face. Things may not look good but God shines His light for us to see through the darkness.
The reminder: God knows you. He loves you. He fills you up. Use His resources to bless and serve others.

Isaiah 45:14-21
I read this blurb from a commentary on verse 15 regarding God hiding himself: God is invisible in nature, incomprehensible in His essence, not to be found out to perfection, nor to be traced in His providential dispensations; His judgements are unsearchable, and His ways past finding out.
Truly there is no other Righteous God and Saviour but the Holy Lord.
The reminder: God hides himself and so is not in our abilities to find Him. We are to earnestly seek Him and He will reveal parts of Himself to us through the movement of the Spirit and through scripture.

Isaiah 44:23- 45:13
If there is anything that hinders us from walking on the path that God set out for us, then He will break down the walls and take down those barriers that are keeping us from Him.
God had ordained from the get go that we would be called children of God, even before we came to hear of the Gospel for ourselves. It is a title of honour, but we are still to be humble and putting others first.
Isaiah 45:9
"Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker, to him who is but a potsherd among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, 'What are you making?' Does your work say, 'He has no hands'?
We have a mind that only understands a speck about the Lord because the Lord is infinite, it's impossible for us to fully grasp His thinking. Knowing that everything is for our good, there should be nothing to complain or be angry at Him about. Let it be a reminder that we should never have any negative thoughts about our God... before we even dream of doing that we need to look into ourselves and think about how our God can continue to forgive and redeem us each day.
The reminder: I'm a dear child of God. As His child let me not question the works of my Father, for everything He does is good to me.

Isaiah 43:1- 44:22
Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Our God will never let us be confronted by things we can't overcome.... He will be there when we feel like we're drowning or in pain with the comfort, peace, and support that we need. In those dark times we can be encouraged by the fact that He is there and is working to make it better for you.
In the Old Testament, sacrifices were made to thank the Lord for what He has done and what He has blessed us with. We aren't called to give live sacrifices anymore but what have You done to show your thankfulness? What have you done to show your everlasting love for God? Even though we may be burdening Him with our sins and wearying Him with our offenses, our faithfulness and loyalty to the Lord can make up for it. Our dedication and desire to know Him is pleasing to Him.
Our God is the only God that can satisfy us. Not material possesions, not fame or popularity, not friendships, but a true, lasting relationship with the Living God. As it says in the Word, things on earth will eventually die out, but the Lord and His gifts are eternal.
Don't let idols take over your life. An idol of academics and studying can also push you away from the Lord. Academics and studying are important, but definitely not the most important.
Isaiah 44:22
I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you."
God has set us free. He redeemed us from the bondage of sin. We get a clean slate each day, and no matter how dirty it may get throughout the day... at the rising sun He wipes it all clean. With a heart to be forgiven and repent, God will lift us up and blesses us for our righteous goal.
The reminder: Especially when school starts, don't let idols take over. What are you symbolically sacrificing for the blessings that the Lord has given? It's hard to give sacrifices but if we stumble God will be there by our side.

Isaiah 41:11- 42:25
Our God is a God of wonders. His providence has no limits as long as we cry to Him in faith and need.
It's amazing how the good work of Jesus is already foreshadowed by Isaiah. Jesus will impact the world as a faithful and obedient servant of God.
Isaiah 42:6
"I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles,
God uses us as His tools to share the Gospel to the unreached. We become a living testimony of the promises of our God who is always faithful to the very end, and keeps these promises in the most unexpected ways. We will be a light reflecting God's love to others who have not experienced it. God created us to be all of this.
Isaiah 42:16
I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them, I will turn the darkness into light before them, and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do, I will not forsake them.
We are blinded by the material things of this world, by anger, by hate, by self-ambition... all of which are fuelled by the devil. We need to allow God to take us out of the darkness and into the marvelous light where the walk is made smoother by the Lord. He will never forsake us, He will not leave us to be consumed by our sin.
The reminder: We are the covenant and light for God. No matter how blinded we are by Satan, God always creates a smoother path on which we continue our spiritual walk.

Isaiah 40:25- 41:10
There are bound to be times when it seems like God is not there with us or that He does not seem to care about the tough situations we're in... but when we think that then it means we don't understand God's nature. God is a good God, an everlasting God who is always by our side. Everything that happens is for our good and are things that God can help us overcome and succeed in.
Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.
God gives us the strength and capability to complete things in His name even when it seems like it's not possible. We need hope and faith together to grasp and feel the Lord's love and providence in its widest and deepest state.
The Lord is the giver and deliverer of our faith.
Isaiah 41:9-10
I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
God called each Christ follower individually with a specific purpose for each. The Lord hand-picked from the bunch, knowing that You are going to be a son or daughter who will glorify the Lord in all things. If we fall short, God will not just let us go, but rather continue to pick us up and teach us a lesson from the experience. The Holy Spirit will continue to rule in your hearts and be our life guide.
The reminder: God is there in both good times and bad times, so rejoice that the Lord's presence will be a guide in all circumstances. We are called as children of Christ with a divine purpose, thus strive to live out a righteous life so that His will in you will be satisfied.

Isaiah 40:12-24
Our God is sovereign, our Majesty, ruler of all things, creator of the Heavens and the Earth. He knows each grain of sand and drop of water. Be in awe of all He has done. We are nothing compared to everything else He has made but God still cares for each of us. He loves us. There's nothing greater than that.
The reminder: Appreciate the beauty and splendour of His creation. Be reminded that God is omnipotent.

Isaiah 40:6-11
Isaiah 40:8
The grass withers and the flowers fall but the word of our God stands forever."
Our residence on Earth is temporary, like nothing compared to what we have in store in the kingdom of God. What is to come is like paradise, worth more than anything on this Earth, and can't compare to the happiness that it can bring to us as we are with the Lord than anything on this Earth. We are truly like grass: it grows, it thrives, and then it withers. What we have to accompany our time here is the word of God, the Scriptures, the Truth that guides our every step.
Isaiah 40:11
He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.
My God is my shepherd. He leads me to green pastures... to good things in life. He cares about me and loves me even though there is so much wrong in me. He protects me from the devil, but even if I do succumb to the devil, the Lord brings me back to Him.
The reminder: The word of God is a foundation that supports me. God is my shepherd. He will always be running after me no matter how far I end up being from Him.

Isaiah 38:15-40:5
Isaiah 38:17
Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.
When things seem to go wrong and you're struggling to get through tough times, know that the Lord is good and all things happen so that the end product is one that benefits you and brings glory to God. God always puts us in situations where He knows we can overcome by His strength. When we do stumble, God is there to pick us up and forgive us for our inequities... He is gracious so that we can continue living in His guiding light.
We are born into a world of sin. None of us are perfect people so we are bound to fall short of the glory of God. However, when we live a life of service and faithfulness to the Lord, He will double the blessings to our sin because we are faithful and trust Him.
The reminder: Tough times are times that God helps us stand back up and to learn from the experience/challenge. Don't be discouraged because we sin (it's natural), be encouraged that God will continue to bless you despite of your sin.

Isaiah 37:1- 38:14
As you approach the Lord, do you do so humbly? Like a child at His father's feet, ready to take in what the Father has to teach and say? Hezekiah changed his clothes and put on sackcloth to show his humility and reverence for the Lord... are you symbolically doing that? With humility comes gratitude and appreciation for the blessings and resources that the Lord has given unto you.
Isaiah 37:20
Now, O Lord, our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O Lord, are God."
This is a prayer for myself as well. I pray that God will keep me away from the devil's hands and from falling into his traps and temptations. Through that may He be exalted to the ends of the earth because He indeed is the one true God, the living God and saving grace.
Everything that has happened is part of His master plan. He ordained all of it and everything happened for His glory. We may not understand why there are famines, wars, poverty, political insecurities around the world but we know that in the grand scheme of things God has it all in control and in His hands.... not our hands. We have a finite mind while God has an infinitely wide and vast mind of intelligence and wisdom that we will never comprehend. What we are called to do is to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and to be peacemakers and teachers of our faith with our whole being.
When our hearts are zealous for God Almighty, our soul will be rooted in Him, the sure foundation and cornerstone of our life, and our work will be good fruit in God's eyes as speech and actions are pointed towards Him.
Isaiah 38:3
"Remember, O Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
Hezekiah was devoted to the Lord and He granted him an extra 15 years of life when Hezekiah prayed. Am I walking faithfully with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in His eyes at all times? It's a question should be posed often. It will help guide you in your walk with Christ, in addition to a change in lifestyle so that it's God-centred.
The reminder: Approach God with humility and reverence. Be zealous for the Lord as through that we become rooted in Him and bear fruit for His glory. From that our understanding of everything will be in faith and trust of the Lord.

Isaiah 35:1-36:22
It's all about faith. Do you believe that your God is watching over you, protecting you, loving you, blessing you? Our God is like the wind... we don't see Him but we feel Him. His presence is manifested through events, through our brothers and sisters, through the Living Word. When we trust that God is working, then our eyes will be open to His glory and wonders.
We enter the Lord's household as righteous children. Only the redeemed will get to walk on the highway known as the Way of Holiness to paradise. We're redeemed because of Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross... He bought us for God using His blood, and now we are cleansed as white as snow. As verse 10 says, gladness and joy should be overtaking us, there should be no sorrow and sighing as we're given the golden ticket to be with the Lord in Heaven.
There will always be people who persecute your faith and you, just like the story of Sennacherib king of Assyria and Hezekiah king of Jerusalem. They'll speak cruel words and tell false lies to break you down. Stand strong in the Lord as He will deliver you from these people who are cruel and wicked. Believe in the Lord and the Gospel in your heart and He will use that to your advantage.
The reminder: Trust that God is there, even though it doesn't seem like it. Stand strong even among persecution. God is there and He will fix it.

Isaiah 34:5-17
Where would humanity be if God did not send His precious Son to take the wrath and punishment for our sins? The world would be terrifying. No clean water, wild animals roaming everywhere, civilization in ruins... Have you shown gratitude for having breath each day? Do you thank the Lord for being the greatest sacrifice in place of us?
The reminder: Remember the Gospel in your hearts and be thankful. Jesus didn't have to take our place but because He loved us, He took our place on the cross.
