Isaiah 10:28-34

We overcome trials, obstacles, temptations, and distractions every day, sometimes even without knowing about it. We can  so quickly come to the conclusion that it was through our abilities that we were able to do get through all difficulties.

The time will come when after all the self-arrogance and boasting there will be things that you won't be able to succeed in without the help and grace of the Lord. The strength to do well in exams even after an all-nighter of studying, His protective hand when travelling on slippery roads on a winter night, perseverance even through a tough exam period (yea, most things relate back to school but oh well, I'm a student). The people who rely on their own strength will remain stranded, like the Assyrian army in the passage. They may have been able to conquer different villages as they head towards Jerusalem but once you get to the foot of the mountain they cannot climb it and can only shake their fists from the bottom, which does no harm.

Lesson of the day (or actually the lesson of many days): don't be prideful and arrogant, be humble and acknowledge that the ability to succeed and achieve is from blessings coming from the Lord.
