Isaiah 9:1-7

Isaiah 9:2
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.

Jesus lights our way to lead us towards righteousness. No matter how far we have fallen or how deep into the darkness we have stumbled, He breaks the darkness with His pure holy light. He comes to save us from the bondage of sin.

Isaiah 9:4
For as in the day of Midian's defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rode of their oppressors.

Whether we're persecuted, oppressed, or weary, God can pick us up so that we can start anew. His providence will give us the strength and perseverance to endure the trials that come our way. All of this will be achieved through the birth of our Saviour.

It is perfect timing as we celebrated his birth two days ago on Christmas Day. :)

Isaiah 9:7
Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
